Can I keep my domain if I change web hosts?

Yes. Provided you are the legal registrant of the domain name.

If you are switching to MyNewHost for web hosting or just domain management, we can handle the transfer for you very quickly with no downtime. We will take care of all of the technical details and keep you up to date with the status during all steps of the process. Should your current web host be hard to deal with or cause problems we will work with them to get the domain name transferred. Once transferred you will have full control over the domain and can change any details that you need to, pointing the domain name to another web host.

If you are moving your domain name away from the management of MyNewHost you have 2 very easy options.

#1 You can simply login and change the nameservers or other DNS to point to your new web hosts network or web site IP. Your new web host should provide at least 2 nameservers for you to enter into your domain manager. Example: NS1.MYNEWHOST.COM and NS2.MYNEWHOST.COM. Even if you cancel your web hosting with MyNewHost you can still continue to use MyNewHost as your domain registrar at no additional fee. We will continue to manage your domain name and auto-renew it each year, along with the other domain management services we provide.

#2 You can request to cancel the service, we will immediatly unlock the domain protection for transfer mode, and you start the transfer process with your new web host or domain registrar. Should you need a transfer key we can instantly provide this information. Cancelling a domain name service with MyNewHost never actually cancels the domain name, this is only done if you let the domain name expire; what it does instead is removes the auto-renewal (auto yearly registration renewal) and transfer lock allowing you to move the domain name to another company and ending the billing with us.

Please note that any domain name under our management is auto-renewed 15 days in advance (prior to expiration) for your security, you cannot cancel the billing of a domain during this 15 day period; you can still transfer the domain name but you will be required to pay for the pre-paid year. Domain name fees are non-refundable as a standard and you will never lose paid or pre-paid years, even if you transfer your domain name.

MyNewHost will never attempt to hijack or control your domain name. By cancelling a domain name with us you are free to move your domain name to any domain registrar or web host at any time. We will provide you with any information you need and help make the process as easy as possible. Unfortunatly some registrars and web hosts will register the domain name under their name and make things hard when you try to leave, this gives web hosts especially a bad reputation for domain registration. MyNewHost provides a control panel for managing your domain names and allows you to change any information at anytime, including the registrant information.
